Intellectual Property

Intellectual property (IP) is a work or invention that is the result of creativity. It is something that an individual owns, because it came from hir mind. Therefore, it is an intangible creation of the human intellect. In most countries one can protect hir IP through a patent, copyright, or a trademark. Examples of IP is a manuscript, a design, or a symbol or phrase that one uses in the course of business. The International Orgtology Institute uses copyright and trademarks to protect their IP.
