Influence is the power and ability to affect a course of events or a thinking process. The effect of influence is always change. In orgtology we hold that leaders change things and managers maintain things. Change needs influence and maintenance needs empowerment. Influence creates the change, and empowerment helps to transform it into something meaningful. Leaders must help others to accept change. Managers must empower the needed transformation through policy, systems and processes.
